Her Mom Didn’t Want Her Mother-In-Law To Go Wedding Dress Shopping With Them, So She Called Her Mom Petty And Claimed She Didn’t Have To Go

This 30-year-old woman is currently engaged to her fiancé, 37, and they have close bonds with their families.
Her fiancé has two brothers, so her mother-in-law never got to experience having a daughter.
During the planning process leading up to his brother’s wedding, her mother-in-law wasn’t included, and even though she didn’t express any sadness about it, she thinks that her mother-in-law would have liked to help.
This weekend, she is going wedding dress shopping.
Understandably, she’s looking forward to it, and she was gushing about it to her mother-in-law while she and her fiancé were visiting her in-laws this past Saturday.
“I then told her it would mean a lot to me if she came with me. She got teary-eyed and agreed to come. I was so excited to share this moment with my family and the woman who means the most to my fiancé,” she said.
On Sunday, she spoke with her mother, and they enthusiastically discussed her upcoming dress-shopping appointment.
She listed everyone who would be present that day: her mother, grandmother, sister, godmothers, stepmother, and mother-in-law.
Once she mentioned that her mother-in-law would be there, her mother questioned her as to why she was invited to go dress shopping.

“I explained I wanted her to enjoy the moment with us and start making memories together since we’ll be a family. My mom said she didn’t want her to come since she felt like she’d take away from a moment between her and me. I assured her that wouldn’t happen,” she explained.
Unfortunately, they started arguing about the matter. Eventually, she told her mother that if she was going to allow her bitterness to cloud the day, then she didn’t have to attend the dress-shopping appointment.
In response, her mother asked her who would assist her with trying the dresses on and share those precious moments with her.
She told her mother that she would appreciate help from any other woman who is present in her daily life. This made her mother angry, and now she feels bad for what she said.
Afterward, she told her mother that she was sorry, but her mother didn’t say anything.
Later on, her mother reached out and said that she wasn’t going to attend the dress-shopping appointment because she believed that she was ripping away the special time that she should be able to cherish with the only daughter she has.
When she heard this response, she told her mother that she accepted her choice.
“She then called my dad (her ex-husband of 20 years) to let him know what HIS DAUGHTER was doing. I happened to be at his house, but she didn’t know that. My dad very sarcastically responded, ‘Oh no, our daughter is getting married, and she loves her mother-in-law and wants to extend an invitation to something she’ll otherwise never experience. How dare we raise her to be a good human? How awful. You should ground our 30-year-old who hasn’t lived at home in 12 years. Do you know how silly you sound?'” she shared.
This seemed to make her mother even more furious, but she thought her father’s reaction was hysterical.
In order to avoid potential issues, she moved her wedding dress shopping to a different boutique so that her mother couldn’t show up unannounced. She hasn’t told her mother-in-law about this situation, and her mother doesn’t have any contact information to reach out to her mother-in-law, which is a relief.
What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
