She Offered To Host A Christmas Party For Her Company Under The Condition That It Was Adults Only, So She’s Refusing To Babyproof Her House Or Lock Her Cats Outside For One Coworker Who Isn’t Following The Rules

Christmas is quickly approaching, so everyone at the company this woman works for is already buzzing about who should host this year’s annual Christmas party.

This company has a small staff of employees, so they don’t need a huge space for the party.

She has a pool in the backyard of her house, and she recently bought a grill.

Because of this, her coworkers asked if she would be willing to host the party at her house this year.

In response, she said that she would be willing to, but she had two rules before agreeing.

Her first condition was that the party would be strictly adults-only. The second condition was that they would barbeque prawns as well as other barbeque-style foods, and she was open to grilling tons of different kinds of meats.

The whole staff agreed to these conditions, but some of her coworkers requested that she grill the prawns separately from the rest of the food due to allergies, and she was completely understanding of this. She wanted to do everything she could to accommodate everyone, and she obviously didn’t want anyone to have an allergic reaction that would send someone to the hospital.

One of her coworkers had recently returned to work last week after being on maternity leave for six months, and she really wanted to be able to attend the party.

Her coworker sent a staff-wide email asking if she was able to bring her three children with her to the party.

When some replied to her email and listed the conditions of the party, her coworker was not thrilled about this.

Over the last several days, her coworker discussed her frustrations with other staff members and spoke with their boss, asking everyone to see if the conditions could be altered to accommodate her request.

“My boss asked me to be flexible, and because she just came back, we should not cut her out like that,” she said.

“She was there while we talked and asked me to babyproof the house because her oldest child is suffering some type of illness where he cannot sit still.”

“Also, she is allergic to cats, so I should wipe the whole house of cat hair and lock them outside until the party is done.”

Then, her coworker told her that all of the staff could take turns watching her children throughout the party, and if they made sure to watch her children carefully, it would work out great. She added that her baby would be right beside her for the entire party.

Immediately, she rejected this idea.

“I will not babyproof the house, and I would NEVER lock my cats outside for any reason. I told her and the boss that she should not join the party since there would be alcohol and hot barbeque. Also, the pool would be dangerous to children without supervision,” she explained.

She clarified that she allowed the plan of her hosting the party to go forward because the entire staff agreed to the conditions she came up with.

After this, she said that if any of them were not comfortable with these terms, they could host the party at their house instead, and she wouldn’t mind.

Her coworker then marched out of the office, holding back tears.

A few of her coworkers asked her to appease her coworker and agree to her requests in order to not rock the boat, adding that the party would only be for one night, just for a few hours or so.

This didn’t sway her, and she wouldn’t feel offended if no one showed up to her house for the party as a result. In her view, the fewer people that attended the party, the more alcohol she could have to herself.

“My boss decided to reevaluate the situation and sent an email asking if anyone else volunteered to hold the party. I was not included in that email. I found out through a work friend,” she shared.

She decided to ignore the information she’d heard, and apparently, everyone was emailing with input, but no one else was coming forward to host the party elsewhere.

A few days ago, her coworker brought her baby into the office.

Her coworker tried to introduce her to the baby, but she wasn’t interested in children, so she requested that she leave her table, and she continued working.

At this, her coworker was furious and left the office for the remainder of the day.

Because her coworker was gone, she and her other coworkers had to pick up the work she left behind once they realized she wasn’t returning.

Since her coworker has returned from maternity leave, she does whatever she wants and leaves the office on a whim, using her children as an excuse.

Coworkers have been weighing in on the issue, calling her a jerk and telling her to stop being mean.

They’ve advised her to give in to her coworker’s requests, claiming that being a mother to three children is a struggle, so, in their view, their coworker needs to have some time to relax at a party and deserves the same opportunity that they do to have fun.

When she heard this, she had to hold back laughter, and she couldn’t believe that others thought she was the one in the wrong throughout this whole ordeal.

What would you do if you were in her shoes?
