He’s Furious That His Wife Didn’t Tell Him She Had Cancer, Even Though They’re Getting A Divorce And She Only Found Out Three Weeks After They Separated

This man’s parents were wealthy, but they put in a lot of effort to save up the amount of money they had.
In his view, though, they didn’t pay him enough attention, and they hired a nanny to take care of him when he was a child.
Once he turned 10, he was too old for a nanny, but his parents didn’t feel like true parents to him since they hadn’t interacted with him much over the years.
Most of their focus was on their careers, so it seemed to him that they were too preoccupied to spend quality time with him.
“When I met my wife, she was a vibrant, intelligent, caring woman. She would give me the shirt off her back,” he said.
At the beginning of their marriage, they hung out and talked for hours on end about a wide variety of topics.
Over time, they didn’t do this as often. After arriving home from work, his wife would lie in bed watching TikTok videos for three hours.
Over the next three years, he noticed that his wife seemed to be pulling away, acting distant and as if she didn’t have the energy to contribute around the house.
She didn’t seem as interested in talking with him. His wife didn’t contribute as often to housework, so he was left to do it all himself.

She felt bad about this, so she eventually hired a housekeeper to do the chores she used to do. He also cooked all of their meals.
From his perspective, his wife didn’t seem to care about spending time with him anymore. They used to go on walks together, but she no longer wanted to do this.
She also no longer read books or left the house very much. All she seemed able to do was lie in bed watching TikTok videos for 14 to 16 hours a day.
During the week, she would insist that she was exhausted, but she’d stay awake all night. Then, during the weekend, she would sleep for 18 hours straight, even when he would try to get her out of bed.
He scheduled doctor’s appointments for his wife to see if they could get to the bottom of the issue, but most of the time, she refused to go.
When she kept the appointments, doctors minimized her symptoms. Since the blood work didn’t show any abnormalities, they claimed that she was “lazy.” Even his wife tried to assure him that she didn’t have any health problems.
“It was awful to see her glued to her phone or her computer instead of engaging with me. I asked for a separation. It was really hard because she cried and begged me not to. I still loved her, but being with her was like a flashback to my parents,” he explained.
He and his wife were both aware of the fact that the majority of people who separated from their spouse ended up deciding to file for divorce, so his wife was concerned that he would divorce her.
Several weeks later, one of his wife’s close friends contacted him and cursed him out, scolding him for separating from his wife.
She informed him that his wife had been diagnosed with cancer, and she shamed him for abandoning his wife during one of the most difficult periods of her entire life. Her friend didn’t know that his wife hadn’t told him about the cancer diagnosis.
After this conversation, he contacted his wife to find out why she hadn’t told him she had cancer. In response, she explained that it was all due to the timing of when she found out. She only received the diagnosis three weeks into their separation.
“She didn’t want to guilt trip me into staying or be manipulative. I told her she should have told me. I had noticed her hair seemed thinner, and she just seemed frailer overall, but she brushed it off, saying she was stressed. She looked obviously ill,” he shared.
He clarified that these symptoms only started to occur more recently and that if he had any idea that she was ill, he never would have asked for a separation.
However, he’s still frustrated that his wife often refused to go to the doctor’s appointments he’d scheduled for her.
What advice would you give her?
