This 28-year-old man’s grandfather recently passed away, and in the wake of the loss, he inherited a hefty amount of money.

But, this was particularly surprising to him, given the fact that he and his grandfather were actually estranged.

Apparently, his grandfather was a super wealthy and successful businessman who wound up having a “falling out” with his parents back when he was just a child. That’s why he really never even knew or had a relationship with his grandfather.

“But apparently, my grandfather liked me enough to leave me his entire fortune,” he said.

This has presented a pretty awkward situation in his life, though, since he actually has two older siblings– a 32-year-old sister and a 30-year-old brother.

Neither of them received any inheritance money, so now, they are both really upset about him getting the entirety of their grandfather’s estate.

That’s why his siblings actually believe that he should just share the funds with them, given that they are family, after all.

“They say it’s not fair that I get everything and that I don’t deserve it since I didn’t have a relationship with our grandfather,” he explained.

However, he really just disagrees with their perspective. First of all, he believes that the inheritance is now “his money,” meaning he can do whatever he wants with it.

He also doesn’t think that he “owes” his siblings anything, especially because they never lent him a hand when he was struggling.

On top of that, both his brother and sister are successful in their fields and have already established their lives with families.

“They don’t need the money,” he revealed, “They just want it.”

So, he ended up just telling his siblings to “back off” and put his foot down– claiming that he wouldn’t hand over a dime.

As you can probably imagine, they freaked out after that, too, and he got accused of being a selfish jerk. His siblings even blamed him for “betraying” their family.

“And they also threatened to sue me, but I don’t think they have a case,” he added.

Regardless, ever since his siblings reacted so badly to his decision, he still can’t help but wonder if refusing to share any of his grandfather’s inheritance money was really the right thing to do.

Why do you think his grandfather left him all the money if they didn’t have a relationship? Regardless, is he entitled to do whatever he wants with the funds? Would you share with your siblings or not?
