She Reported Her Sister-In-Law And Her Husband To Their Caseworker, And Ultimately Got Their Foster Daughter Removed From Their Care

“[My] sister-in-law told me it was none of my business, and they did not want me to interfere again. Mae heard me speak to them, and she opened up [to me] about how unhappy she was with my sister-in-law and her husband and how frequently their disparaging comments about her mom or discouragement of her loving her mom happened. She was feeling so desperate and said they didn’t get it.”

When she told her husband about her conversation with Mae, he encouraged her to talk to his sister’s case worker and report what happened. He believed his sister should’ve taken her advice instead of blowing her off.

After talking to her sister-in-law’s case worker, Mae was removed from her and her husband’s care. Her sister-in-law was outraged, and even though her husband tried to take the blame, she knew she was the one who reported her.

“She told me I had taken away Mae’s stability again and [asked] how dare I interfere when I was told to stay out of it,” she added.

“The rest of my husband’s family said we should have kept out of it and [that] it really wasn’t any of our business.”

Things have been tense with her and her husband’s family ever since.

Should she feel bad for talking to her sister-in-law’s case worker, or did she do the right thing?
