Are you like me and get thrown off by those weeks in early spring where one day, it’s sixty degrees and sunny, then the next, the temperature is in the low 40s, it’s cloudy, and you’re chilly?

In regions that get the full range of seasons, early spring can be a tricky time to navigate regarding getting dressed for the day. Therefore, now is the time to bring out your cardigans.

Like Taylor Swift, I am a big fan of a good cardigan. You can stay warm, add dimension to your outfit, experiment with contrasting fabrics, etc.

Cardigans are perfect for this time of year and a great addition to your springtime wardrobe. While many people associate them with the fall, they’re just as appropriate for spring days that require a bit more coverage.

When styling a cardigan, treating it more like an accessory is a good idea. Unlike bold coats or jackets, cardigans are a bit more subtle and can be used to compliment the rest of your outfit.

One of my favorite ways to wear a cardigan is over a great springtime dress with booties or strappy sandals.

This is an especially great look for more neutral-colored cardigans, as they won’t take away from the fun prints or colors on your dresses.

I’m also a fan of pairing cardigans with tank tops, as they’re a quick way to put on something long-sleeved without having to run home and change. You just throw on your cardigan, and you’re all set!

If you love a simple tank top and jeans look, consider keeping a cardigan with you just in case. If you want to look like a stylish city girl, pair your tank top, wide-leg jeans, and sneakers with a cardigan tied around your shoulders and a tote bag in hand.
