A TikToker named Kajsa (@kajsa.spooky.stor) dedicates her page to telling true spooky stories. One of her followers submitted a story about how they were haunted by a mimic in the Appalachian Mountains.
In 2010, a woman named Amanda moved in with her husband at the end of the summer. They lived in an old trailer in the backwoods area of Appalachia. After a couple of months, weird things started happening.
One night, Amanda was taking a shower when she saw someone walk past through the shower curtain. Of course, she assumed it was her husband.
So, she yelled out to him and asked him to grab a towel. Her husband came in from the opposite side of the house and asked what she needed.
Apparently, he had been playing video games in the living room for the past couple of hours and had not come into the bathroom at all during that time. This really scared her because there were only two of them living in the house.
A couple of weeks later, she was in the bathroom when she heard the dryer door open and shut. She stopped and listened as the dryer door continued to open and shut itself repeatedly for a minute straight.
She ran to the bedroom to look for her husband and told him about the dryer door. He shrugged it off and said that they lived in the mountains, so she was probably just hearing noises.
Another few weeks went by before another incident occurred. While she was at work, her husband was at home, and he called her asking if she had come back. He had heard her say his name from the other room. It sounded exactly like her voice, and it had woken him up from a nap.
Nothing else strange happened for a while until one night, they were watching TV together when they heard a loud thump at the back of the house, where the washer and dryer were.

Amanda's husband got up to investigate and discovered that the appliances had turned on by themselves. The noises made it sound like someone was breaking in, but no one was there.
Then, in October, they found out they were having a baby. As Amanda got further along in her pregnancy, she kept hearing strange sounds in the kitchen when she was in the bedroom.
In May, she was home alone and about to have her baby. She fell asleep but woke up at 3 a.m. to a loud boom. She was absolutely terrified, so she called her husband and told him to come home. He told her that he would be back at 4 p.m.
However, he never showed up. He still wasn't home by the next day. She started calling him repeatedly, but he didn't answer the phone.
Finally, he picked up the phone at 5 p.m. She was furious and upset because he was supposed to be at home by now. He was confused and informed her that he had no missed calls from her and hadn't talked to her about coming home early at all.
She checked her phone's call log and saw that there were no outgoing calls to him, even though she had made multiple calls. After this incident, they ended up moving closer to town. Since then, nothing spooky has happened to them.
