The journey of starting a new job, particularly one built on trust like babysitting, rarely includes a prelude of danger. But for one young woman who accepted a simple road trip with a new family, the trust was catastrophically betrayed.
This event is not simply a report of assault; it’s a chilling examination of how predation hides in plain sight, disguised by the veneer of family normalcy and opportunity.
This 20-year-old woman started babysitting for a new family six months ago. One day, the mom had to compete in a bodybuilding competition, so she asked if she could accompany them to watch her two-year-old and six-year-old.
The event was an hour away, and since the mom had to be there a day in advance, she had to ride with the dad, two kids, and the grandma in their family’s van.
When she arrived at the family’s house, ready to go on the road trip, the dad stated that the grandma wanted to drive alone, so she could sit in the passenger seat of the van, up front with him.
“Halfway there, he revealed a whole different side to him, including his criminal history (crimes like assault, driving while drunk, etc). He has two older children around my age [who] are permanently messed up because of how he treated them in childhood, and his ex has a restraining order against him,” she explained.
“At this point, I start texting both my mom and the wife that I babysit for, telling them that I’m getting uncomfortable with what’s happening.”
“He tried to subtly put his hand on my knee, and I brushed his hand off. He seemed agitated by that and proceeded to grip my thigh, telling me he just ‘needed to keep his balance.’ I told him firmly to stop because I was incredibly uncomfortable, but he started sliding it upward and underneath my shorts.”
She started to kick and slap at him, doing anything in her power to wriggle away from his grasp. She did get him to pull back, but then he went and grabbed her chest!

Her mom was texting her to get out of the car and make a run for it as soon as they arrived at the competition. When the dad pulled the van into the parking lot, she took her mom’s advice, opened the door, and sprinted away.
Volunteers at the event helped her get a hold of the mom, who, horrifyingly, told her that it was hardly the first time the dad had done this to a girl.
She quickly called the police after receiving this chilling information. A couple of minutes after this all went down, the dad walked into the building with the kids in tow, accusing her of lying.
“I’m currently in the process of trying to press charges and have obviously stopped babysitting for the family. I was in the dark about this man’s past and hadn’t really been uncomfortable around him before, but now I’m just in shock and I feel so gross and violated,” she concluded.
By pursuing charges and refusing to back down, hopefully, it will put a stop to this disgusting dad. I just can’t believe the mom admitted he had done this before, and it’s unbelievable she chooses to remain married to him.
