After moving back to California, TikToker @crenteria019 nearly became a victim of human trafficking. He had been looking for a job and came across a listing online for an older lady who needed a driver because she could no longer drive herself.
He asked if the job was still available, and it was. He had to provide his driver’s license, two forms of ID, and confirm he had a car.
He was told that the lady was at the doctor’s, so his first job would be to pick her up in San Diego and drive her back to Riverside. So, he drove all the way to San Diego to pick up the lady.
She was wearing a face mask and was with a guy who was dressed like a nurse. She had supposedly just gotten done with a treatment and had another one to go to at a different doctor’s office.
He was given gas money through Cash App, and the nurse handed him some paperwork to give to her next doctor. The nurse also gave him the address for the other doctor and warned him that the GPS would say he was crossing the border.
Afterward, he could take the lady home and get paid.
It all seemed super suspicious to @crenteria019, but he didn’t want to let them know that he was onto them. So, he just grabbed the manila folder containing the paperwork and pretended like everything was fine.
“Inside the manila folder, there was another manila folder that was sealed closed,” @crenteria019 explained.
“So, they got two manila folders, and I’m already feeling sketchy about this because they gave me an address in Tijuana that they want me to go to, with like no context whatsoever. And they didn’t tell me this was happening when I agreed to come down there and take the lady back to Riverside.”

He decided to open up the folder and realized that it was filled with blank papers. He checked the address in Tijuana, and it belonged to a seedy-looking warehouse.
He got out of there as quickly as possible.
He tried to contact the authorities in Tijuana and tell them about what happened, but they didn’t seem to care. He still wants to report the situation to make sure no one else falls victim to this evil scheme.
Many people in the comments section have experienced similar close calls, revealing how common and dangerous these scams have become.
“My cousin got surgery in Mexico to remove weight and extra skin. Three months later, she went to the doctor, and they did some exams on her and realized she was missing a lung,” stated one person.
“This happened to me a year ago. I applied for a nursing position at a private clinic. When they set up an interview, I called an Uber and went. When we arrived to the address, it looked off. The building looked abandoned, and I got a sinking feeling. As soon as I felt that, I saw two men standing on the side of the building. I told the driver to get out of here now! This was from an Indeed posting,” wrote another.
“Reminds me of when I applied for a job on Craigslist. They sent me the address to a warehouse. I show up, and the doors are blacked out! I didn’t get out of my car. I called and kept calling, no answer,” commented a third.
