Drama is inevitable when it comes to families. But when relationship betrayals cycle through the generations, it can feel like history is determined to repeat itself.
When TikToker Jonie (@j.l.sisco) was 13 years old, her dad and her mom’s youngest sister got together while her parents were still married. Of course, her parents split up once her mom found out.
All these years later, Jonie’s dad and her mom’s youngest sister are still happily married. Now, Jonie is 29 years old, and she is dealing with a similar situation. She found out that her husband is dating her own sister.
Jonie got married when she was 19 or 20. She and her husband were married for nine years before they finally separated. She moved to Tennessee while her husband stayed in Illinois.
Jonie and her sister are currently states away, and her husband and sister are neighbors and lovers.
Her sister has three kids and is married to her children’s grandfather. He is a felon because he committed arson by doing illegal wiring without being an electrician. They are in an open marriage.
Her sister was previously married to her children’s father, but she kicked him out because she claimed he was being too handsy with her and the kids. She got a protection order against him. He lawyered up and obtained custody of all three kids.
Jonie and her husband are still legally married. They have not filed for divorce yet because they both don’t have enough funds for a lawyer. He is dating her sister while her sister is still married to her kids’ grandfather.
“So, I get to deal with the trauma on all sides,” said Jonie. “One thing I am grateful for is that my kids don’t understand a lick of it. I have a two-year-old, and I have a 10-year-old who has special needs, so neither of them understand a single bit of it.”
After everything she has been through in her nine-year marriage. Jonie never imagined it would end this way. Instead of navigating a typical separation, she is forced to watch her estranged husband build a relationship with someone she grew up alongside.
Some TikTok users took to the comments section to share equally complicated family situations.
“My mom has a half-brother cousin uncle birth twin by her younger sister. Figure that out,” stated one user.
“I swear this stuff is happening more and more lately. I have a wild story too about my husband of 13 years living a double life. He cheated with his brother’s wife, his cousin, his best friend’s wife, and more! Divorce will be final in January!” wrote another.
“You and your kids moving away from that mess is a blessing!..And I thought my life has been crazy,” commented a third.
