When TikToker Kalina (@kalinaisabella) was in high school, she dealt with a “Pretty Little Liars” situation. She was friends with a group of three girls, and one of them, named “A”, started receiving a bunch of harassing texts. She would send screenshots of the texts to Kalina and their other friend, “J.”
“Whoever these people were that were harassing her were being super mean,” Kalina said. “They would bring up things from her childhood, like dark family secrets that “A” didn’t want anyone else to know about, and she’s like, look, they’re throwing all these things in my face.”
Then, “A” began to find threatening notes in her locker. Kalina and “J” were very concerned for her. They didn’t know what to do. Suddenly, “J” started getting these harassing text messages as well.
They came in the middle of the night from the same number. This mysterious person also divulged all of “J’s” deepest, darkest secrets.
Soon enough, it began happening to Kalina. She couldn’t sleep for days. This person was trying to blackmail her about her own secrets while spilling those of “A’s” and “J’s.” It was freaky how they seemed to know everything about them.
The harassment started to affect their daily lives. Kalina and “J” would never see the signs. It would always be “A” pointing things out. As time went on, Kalina grew suspicious of “A.”
One day, she and “A” were hanging out. “A” got up to do something, leaving behind her unlocked phone. Kalina had started noticing that she would receive texts from the strange number at around the same time that “A” would be texting on her phone.
So, Kalina went through her phone and came across a free texting app.
She found her name and the conversation she was having with the strange number. She continued scrolling and found “J’s” name, “A’s” name, “A’s” mom, “A’s” ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend, her sister, her stepmother, her father, and her grandmother. They were all receiving harassing texts that were dragging “A” through the mud.

“A” had been sending them herself. Later, Kalina told “J” about what she had discovered. They confronted “A,” but she looked them in the eye and denied everything.
Kalina immediately blew up at her. She called “A” a sad, pathetic liar and stopped being her friend. They never spoke to each other again.
In the comments section, many TikTok users shared their own eerie experiences. When Pretty Little Liars came out, it definitely inspired people to take on the persona of “A.”
“I had a number texting me for a whole year. Creepy, weird stuff and harassing me. A year later, I randomly decided to have someone call the number, and my girlfriend of four years answered. It’s always the people close to you,” commented one user.
“Someone from my town had something very similar happen, too!! It was mostly letters, I think. It was coming from someone’s parent!!” exclaimed another.
“My college roommate did this. The police got involved, and then all of a sudden, she needed to move for her own safety. Never heard anything from her again, but the detective on her case said they believed she was sending herself the texts,” added a third.
