If you’ve ever been ghosted, you know how it feels. It’s confusing, infuriating, and leaves you spiraling with a bunch of unanswered questions.
One day, your life is filled with banter and conversation, but the next, your phone is completely silent. For TikToker @miamaria8514, her ghost story didn’t end with unanswered texts. It came full circle in the most awkward way imaginable.
One night, a few months ago, she stayed after work to have a drink or two with some of the regulars at the bar where she worked. At the time, there was somebody else who was sitting alone, nursing his drink.
They started talking and really hit it off. The connection felt instant and easy. Before long, they had exchanged phone numbers and didn’t leave each other’s side until the bar closed.
For a few days, they continued talking and made plans to see each other again. But on the day they were supposed to meet up, she didn’t hear from him, not a single text, phone call, or explanation of any kind. So, she was ghosted.
She forgot all about him and moved on, but fate had other plans. Months later, he showed up at the bar again and proceeded to talk to another girl for about two hours while they were just 15 feet away from her. It wasn’t even subtle.
At some point during their conversation, he locked eyes with @miamaria8514, and it was obvious that she was unhappy.
After the other girl left the bar with her friends, he walked over and stood five feet in front of her, acting like nothing had happened and that he was interested in whatever she was doing. She was understandably not impressed.
He claimed that he had been trying to buy time with @miamaria8514 by talking to the other girl, which didn’t make any sense. She was not offended but pointed out that his behavior had been totally rude.

He asked how he could make it up to her, but she shut him down, telling him that there was nothing he could do because she was already over it and talking to someone else. Finally, he turned around and left.
“You thought I would just be cool with that?” @miamaria8514 said.
“Because those people didn’t come together. He came to the bar solo. This girl came with her friends. Like, they didn’t even know each other.”
It’s a tale as old as dating apps. People vanish without a trace, only to come crawling back as if the ghosting never happened. What makes @miamaria8514’s story sting was the setting.
He reappeared at the same bar where she worked, like a slap in the face. But the bright side was that she had all the power.
