Most people assume that working a janitorial night shift just means peace and quiet while you mop the floors, but for TikToker Mandi (@mandiiikayyy), it turned into a series of eerie encounters.

She used to do janitorial work at a haunted school. It started out great, as all she had to do was wait for everyone to go home and then make sure everything was clean for the next day.

One night, while she was cleaning a classroom, she felt her hair get pulled. She turned around, looking for whoever had decided to mess with her, but didn’t see anyone.

She chalked it up to the fact that she had long hair, and it must’ve gotten caught on something. For some reason, she felt the need to say, “You’re not allowed to follow me home,” out loud.

After that, everything was fine until around Christmas. The teachers had decorated their rooms with little toys that played music. One night, she was in a classroom gathering trash when one of the toys started playing music on its own.

“I thought maybe the batteries were going dead or maybe it was set on a timer to go off every hour,” Mandi said. “When I checked my phone, though, it was an extremely random time, say 9:24 p.m. Again, could be malfunctioning.”

She talked to the teacher about it the next day. The teacher had recently changed the batteries and informed her that there was no timer on the toy.

A few days later, the same toy went off again, and Mandi heard a different song faintly playing along with it. The music was coming from a room across the hall in a different direction.

“I was terrified, but I still had a job to do, so I went to my bag, put in my headphones, and blasted music as loud as I possibly could and decided to just ignore it,” Mandi said.

From then on, she made it a point to tell the ghost every night that it wasn’t allowed to follow her home. Since the students were on winter break, she was in the school alone until the break was over.

One day, she cleaned a large window by the entrance to the school. Then, she walked away and moved on to her next task.

At one point, she walked past the window she had just cleaned and saw a small handprint in the middle of the glass. She was annoyed and cleaned it again, wondering how she could’ve missed a spot. But of course, the handprint reappeared later in the same place.

Mandi checked the cameras, but she was the only one in the footage. She then asked her boss if she could take a half-day off and bolted out of there. When Mandi returned to work, she was cleaning one of the bathrooms when the lights started flickering on and off.

Sometimes, her coworkers from other schools would stop by to ask for cleaning supplies. Mandi had her headphones in and thought a coworker was there, but when she removed her headphones, she realized no one was there.

She messaged a coworker and asked if they had stopped by, but no one did. She was super scared and irritated by this ghost’s shenanigans, so she shouted for it to stop.

Things were quiet for a long time after that until another incident with her phone. She had plugged her phone into an outlet in the hallway while cleaning out the inside of a locker. Suddenly, her phone flew across the floor under a door. She whipped her head around and heard giggling.

That was when she finally vowed to look for a new job. In the spring, she put in her two-week notice when a classroom door randomly swung open.

She went to close it and heard footsteps running toward her. Now that she has left that job, she wonders if something happened to a student there.
