It's bad enough being cheated on, but then to have your ex-spouse and their affair partner try to replace you as a parent is a whole new level of ugly.

This 27-year-old man and his 26-year-old ex-wife have two children who are four and three. His marriage came to an end after his ex-wife cheated on him.

She then got married to her 35-year-old affair partner. Now, in their custody agreement, they swap custody on their birthdays, meaning if he is supposed to have the kids on his ex's birthday, he will allow her to have them, and vice versa.

The important days they agreed to share the kids include both of their birthdays, family weddings and funerals, as well as Father's Day and Mother's Day.

Aside from that, he gets the kids for a week straight before passing them off to his ex for the same amount of time. Days outside of this where they would like to swap the kids are at their own discretion, and it's not stated in the court order.

"My ex and her affair partner want his birthday to be a swap day. They argue it's only fair because he will be their second dad, and they won't remember a time without him," he explained.

"She even argued that it would be petty on my part to reject his birthday as a swap day. But I did reject it. I told her he was not getting his birthday, and my mind was made up."

"The affair partner told me I must be a [bad] dad to deny the kids his birthday, and I told him if that makes me a [bad] dad, it definitely makes him a [bad] stepdad to be the other person in their parents' marriage and the person who helped end their family."

His ex proceeded to formally write out a request for her affair partner's birthday to count as a swap day, and he shot her down yet again.

His lawyer made a note of that and insisted everything would be alright. His lawyer also contacted his ex's lawyer, who pushed them to think about it before threatening to start a case against them for parental alienation.

His lawyer then warned his ex's lawyer about that, since they can prove his ex and her affair partner "tried to buy him off" as well as attempted to get him to abandon his kids so his ex's affair partner could formally adopt them.

Nobody said a peep after that, but when he recently saw his ex to exchange the kids, she accused him of being selfish for not caving to her demands.

He's left wondering if he is a jerk for not allowing her to get the kids on her affair partner's birthday.

Well, I think he should start arranging to have a family member or friend help him exchange the kids with his ex so he can prevent her from speaking to him.

Perhaps he might even be able to record the exchanges to catch his ex bad-mouthing him. Regardless, it's sad his ex and her affair partner are trying to replace him, and he shouldn't give in to their insanity.
