Market crashes and bad investments are certainly things in the financial world people have to worry about, but he’s dealing with something that’s a bit different: a blackmailer who didn’t do their homework.
By creating two distinct identities to protect his wife from corporate bias, they accidentally created a cheating narrative for a bystander who caught them sharing a personal moment.
This man truly has a wonderful wife, and he’s still madly in love with her. They’re both 33, and they own their own company in the financial industry, which has been wildly successful.
He and his wife do not talk about being married to one another, and they don’t have public social media accounts, so very few people know about their relationship.
From the outside looking in, it appears that he and his wife are nothing more than business partners, since they have encountered people before who don’t respect a married couple running a business, and they ultimately defer to him for things instead of his wife.
So, them keeping their marriage under wraps absolutely makes sense to level the playing field for his wife. His wife actually uses her middle and maiden names professionally, and uses the name her parents gave her in her personal life.
For example, she’s Mary Fish at the office and Jane Doe after hours. This is because her parents gave her a bizarre name that has no place in corporate America, and people would literally laugh at her, as her legal name is something along the lines of honey or princess.
“Now, full disclosure: I did NOT cheat on my wife. We were at a work function and kissed briefly when arriving (in car), and apparently someone saw it,” he explained.
“I woke up this morning to an email addressed to me saying that if I don’t want my wife, Jane Doe, finding out I’m cheating on her with my business partner, Mary Fish, then I am to pay them off with an amount I won’t be listing here, but [it] is quite a sum.”

“They included photos of me and ‘Mary’ together, and then, and this is the best part, sent a link to Jane’s Facebook page where she notoriously doesn’t post her own face anywhere.”
And that is how he came to be blackmailed for cheating on his wife with his real wife, as nobody really knows about their marriage, and whoever witnessed the kiss is in that camp.
He’s trying to laugh, but he’s also alarmed that he’s even in this position in the first place. As for his wife, she’s been cackling nonstop about the blackmail.
At the end of the day, this couple did exactly what they set out to do: they built a professional fortress so convincing that not even a dedicated blackmailer could see through the cracks.
I think it’s worth getting to the bottom of the blackmailer’s identity, or he could kick this over to the police to spend time on, since blackmailing someone is a crime, peeps.
What do you think about that? Is it a compliment or a curse that they were so good at hiding their marriage that a stranger actually believed he was having a high-stakes affair?
