After getting out of a year-long relationship, TikToker @twoprettybestfriens decided to search for a new flame on the dating apps. She started talking to a guy named Austin.

She ended up inviting him to a New Year’s Eve party at her friend’s house, and they planned to meet there.

He was new to town and didn’t know anyone, but he was up for meeting new people. He showed up at the party at 9 p.m. He looked just like his pictures online, which was a relief.

They chatted and played some drinking games. As time passed, they slowly got more comfortable with each other. At one point, he went to use the bathroom.

Out of nowhere, he texted her from the bathroom, saying that he was falling for her. It had only been two hours since they met, so she didn’t really know what to say to that. He also just seemed to get super intense as the night wore on, and it felt like he was love bombing her.

When it got close to midnight, they went to eat grapes under the table. She couldn’t take it anymore and tried to get up, but he grabbed her cup of grapes and started eating them.

He said that he believed in superstitions and wanted to do this so they could be together. When the clock struck midnight, they were each other’s New Year’s kiss.

Afterward, she ignored the red flags and invited him back to her place, and he spent the night. He stayed over the next day, and they spent it watching TV together. They stayed up talking until four in the morning.

They went out on a couple of dates to get to know each other better. Things were going well, and she enjoyed spending time with him.

Then, he became very distant for a week. Eventually, he apologized for the lack of communication, saying that he was busy at work. But the same thing kept happening over and over.

“Long story short, he’s giving me the run around,” she said. “He’s been like, oh, sorry for not talking to you for two days, and I was busy, and I’ll come over Thursday. Thursday rolls around, and he’s like, oh, I got to do something.”

He also reassured her that he was not ghosting her. They made plans for him to take her out to lunch as his way to make up for not talking to her.

However, those plans did not happen. His last text to her was to tell her that he “just did a ton of illicit substances.” After that, she never heard from him again.

Clearly, it wasn’t meant to be, and maybe that’s for the best.
