Every now and then, someone raises the bar for bizarre behavior on a date in a way that you never see coming. TikToker Allie (@yourlocaltorontogirlie) went on a casual first date that ended with her getting ghosted in front of the guy’s friends.
She started talking to a guy on a dating app, and they ended up exchanging phone numbers. She didn’t recognize his area code. He told her that it was a Florida area code. He had a place in Florida and used a Florida number.
After texting back and forth, they realized that they lived pretty close to each other. He asked her if she wanted to meet up, even though it was kind of last-minute and spontaneous. She told him that she was free, and he responded that he would swing by after work.
However, Allie’s policy was to meet in public for at least the first interaction. So, he made a reservation at a restaurant for that night.
When she was a few minutes away from the restaurant, he texted her, saying that he had bumped into a friend, and he was sitting at their table. Allie was fine with it because she loves to chat with people.
When she showed up, his friend was talking on the phone. Then, his friend’s girlfriend came over, and she was super sweet. They were all just talking and hanging out for a while.
Finally, the server came by with the bill. He brought four separate checks because there were four of them. Allie’s date paid for his portion without saying much. Then, he stood up and left the table.
At first, no one thought anything of it. They assumed he was just heading to the restroom. But he never came back. Minutes passed, and eventually it became obvious that he had simply left the restaurant altogether.
Thankfully, Allie wasn’t stuck covering his check. She paid for her own drink while the other couple remained at the table, equally confused about what had just happened.

“I checked my phone, and he did not have the decency or the courage to say goodbye to me; he just dipped out on us,” said Allie.
“So, that happened. It’s low. Please don’t do this to other people, even if you’re not interested.”
Needless to say, Allie never heard from him again. After the stunt he pulled, she isn’t interested in hearing excuses from him anyway.
She doesn’t think it’s so hard to ask for someone to have enough respect to say goodbye instead of rudely walking out the door and pretending the other person never existed. Basic manners should not be considered a rare quality.
