In April 2022, TikToker Chloe (@giantcookielady) lost her mom to brain cancer. The day that she knew her mom had to be transferred from the hospital to hospice, she reached out to her mom’s closest friends to let them know about the situation.
Her closest friend at the time, Nicole, was there to make sure that Chloe’s mom was transported safely. Chloe would meet them at hospice and handle things from there.
Chloe was grateful for the help because she was juggling her six-month-old baby, her seven-year-old stepson, her seven-year-old sister, and her cookie business.
By the end of her life, her mom’s short-term memory was very poor, so Chloe was used to repeating conversations and even confusion about who she was.
But when her mom arrived at hospice, she seemed like she was in a calm and euphoric state. Chloe chalked it up to the brain tumor.
A couple of weeks later, her mom passed away. She had decided to donate her body to science, which meant it would take a long time for her ashes to be returned to Chloe. They had a celebration of life for her mother, or a party respecting her memory.
“My mom’s friend Nicole was there,” said Chloe. “She was so kind, and we just, the two of us, probably spent the most amount of time with her before my mom passed, and I explained to her the bizarre actions of watching my mother be euphoric and enjoying everything. I was like, I guess she just was really ready.”
But Nicole revealed that she had given Chloe’s mother edibles so she could have a good time. It took Chloe a couple of seconds to process the information, but in the end, she was glad her mom had a good time before she died. Clearly, Nicole is a true friend who was really looking out for her mom.
Many TikTok users applauded Nicole for being a great friend, while others shared similar stories.

“I brought my grandma home on hospice last April. The second day home, she told me she was bored. I gave her edibles and made her a cocktail, and she told me, ‘I’m here for a good time, not a long time.’ It’s my favorite memory of that time,” wrote one user.
“Every time I’d go to see my Nan at her end of life, I’d give her a gin and tonic. She had dementia, so I’m not 100% certain she knew who I was, but she was always happy to see me,” shared another.
“We all need a Nicole is what I’m taking from this. We all need a ride-or-die! I love a girl’s girl! It really is so important to have that one person who can ride it out and be there,” pointed out a third.
