After purchasing an antique chair, TikToker Nia (@niathehealer) became acquainted with a 300-year-old gay ghost named James.
So, one day, she was on Facebook Marketplace when she came across a listing for this old chair. For some reason, she felt very drawn to it and just had to buy it.
“And the thing is, it’s so old I can’t sit in it, and I’m the type of person who doesn’t buy things that I find useless, so it’s weird that I wanted this chair so badly,” said Nia.
“Honestly, I don’t have room for it. Like, I just have it in my office now, and I’ve created space. I don’t have a room for a chair I can’t even sit in, but I felt like I needed it.”
She contacted the seller on Facebook Marketplace and told her that she would pay $25 for the chair and pick it up the same day. It turned out that the seller only lived two minutes away from Nia.
When Nia arrived at the lady’s house, the lady informed her that the chair was in the backyard and led her over to the shed.
She opened the shed, and it was completely empty except for the chair, which was facing the door. Nia immediately realized the chair was haunted.
She carefully lifted it and put it in the back of her car. She could tell the chair was really fragile, so she asked the seller where she got it from.
The lady said that her mom had had it in her apartment for the last 30 years. Before that, the chair was in an antique store. After bringing the chair home, Nia did some research on it.

The chair had wheels on the bottom, which was rare to see on such an old furniture piece.
According to her research, the chair went out of style sometime during the 1800s. Later that night, she was messing around with some cards on her desk. She was hunched over the desk when all of a sudden, she heard a voice command her to sit up straight.
Nia knew it was the ghost, and she assumed it was an old woman. Then, when she was exercising, she heard the voice say, “Yeah, fatty; you better walk.” Finally, Nia decided that she needed to get some answers as to who this ghost was.
The ghost had very feminine energy, but she found out that it was actually a man named James. He likes men, so that kind of explained the feminine energy.
“Even though he is a man, we started communicating and becoming friends,” said Nia.
“I will say when he was first here, he was kind of judgmental and a little scary. But over time, we really formed a nice bond, and he doesn’t do anything crazy.”
