When TikToker Alexandra (@houselore) and her husband were looking for flats in Edinburgh, they came across a place with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. They loved it, and that was all they knew about it until they moved in. The strangeness began almost immediately.
"First, it was my husband," said Alexandra. "He really didn't hold with anything paranormal or spiritual or anything like that. Didn't believe in ghosts."
"And he came to me one morning, very shaken, and told me that he had seen in the mirror across from the bed what he could only describe as a demon."
She could tell that he was really frightened. They both thought it was just a bad dream and moved on with their lives. But more incidents kept occurring.
One night, he saw a dark, shadowy figure standing in the hall. And one time, he was lying in bed and couldn't get up. He felt pressure on his chest, and there was a demon-like figure sitting on him.
"Now, none of this had ever happened to him before in any place, in any way," said Alexandra. "This was all entirely new to him, so that's what really got me, is that he wasn't prone to these experiences. It was something about this place in particular that was doing this."
Alexandra decided to do some research. She found out that the flat they were in used to be a house. It was originally built in the 1700s for a merchant. It was also on a site previously known as Gallows Hill, where hundreds of people had been hanged.
Then, things started happening to their dog. One day, Alexandra and her husband came home and found blood all over the floor. Their dog was panting, and blood was flowing out of his ear.
They took him to the veterinarian, but they couldn't figure out what had happened. They took him home, and he was alright for about four or five months.

One day, Alexandra and her husband planned to go out for a celebratory dinner. They decided to stop at home and let the dog out before they went to dinner. However, they found the hall soaked with blood.
"Again, I find our dog exploding blood," said Alexandra. "We take him to the vet again. Once again, they have no explanation as to why he's randomly exploding blood. So, that's put me on edge a little bit."
Shortly after this, Alexandra started feeling unwell. She was constantly exhausted and dizzy. She even had this sense that she was looking at herself from somewhere else.
One evening, they heard a handyman working on the flat above them. When he came down the stairs, he stopped to chat with them. He was surprised that they had lasted so long. Alexandra and her husband were both confused by what he meant.
He explained that he had had an assistant helping him with renovations on the flat upstairs. They decided to stay in the flat that Alexandra and her husband were living in.
At the time, it was empty. But on the first night, the assistant ran out of there, screaming in terror. He refused to set foot in the flat again.
The handyman also revealed that several murders had taken place in their flat. The most recent occurred in the 1980s. Two men were in a conflict, and one of them pushed the other out the window, killing him.
Soon enough, Alexandra's illness escalated, and she ended up hospitalized. At one point, she was in the hospital for a week straight.
She couldn't even sit up without nearly going into cardiac arrest. The doctors ran tests on her, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Eventually, she returned home to try to recover. She and her husband were sitting at the dining room table when her nose started bleeding out of nowhere. She had never had a nosebleed her entire life until that moment. After that, she continued to have several more nosebleeds.
Finally, they decided to move out. They didn't last a year in that place. Now, the flat is back on the market.
