When you work night shifts in a hospital, strange things are bound to happen. Working nights can make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world: one that is quiet and unsettling.
But for Megan (@nursemegrn), one chilling experience with a new coworker went far beyond the usual creepy night shift tales of flickering lights and distant footsteps.
She was working the night shift, and there was a new guy who had been recently hired. He was a little odd and seemed socially awkward from the way he interacted with people.
“When you would try to engage in conversation with him, he was very closed off, and I just kind of chalked it up to maybe he’s shy and maybe he’s just stopping through getting a job,” said Megan.
During his breaks, he would always go outside to his car, but returned in a timely manner, never raising suspicion. But one day, everything changed.
The police came to search his locker and interview the entire floor. Word spread quickly among the staff. The man had reportedly killed his wife during his break.
For Megan and her coworkers, it was surreal, and they were all in disbelief.
As it turns out, this was not an isolated horror story. Other workplaces have also experienced their fair share of dark headlines, according to these TikTok users in the comments section.
“Our security guard, who was a former police officer, left work one morning as I was coming in. He went home and killed his wife and one uncle, wounding another. Imagine being on complete lockdown to be protected from your own security guard. He turned himself in hours later in another state. He claimed [his] wife was having an affair with his uncle,” wrote one user.

“I’ve been at the same building for 11 years. One person in maintenance killed his girlfriend and came in the next day like nothing was out of the ordinary. Another in housekeeping was killed by their son,” added another.
It just goes to show that ghosts and dark hallways are not always the ones to fear. Sometimes, it’s the people you pass by every day without ever suspecting a thing.
