When you think of guardian angels, I’m sure iguanas don’t cross your mind. Amanda Dove, who goes by @prison_story on TikTok, had her pet iguana save her from being assaulted by a man who came to her house.

“Cold blood, warm heart. You’ll never convince me that she didn’t make her appearance right at that moment. She loved me,” Amanda explained about her iguana in the description of her video.

Back when Amanda was 19, she used to live with four guys, and they all enjoyed partying it up together. One day, someone knocked on the door, and Amanda answered, as all of her roommates were at work.

It turned out to be a friend of theirs, so Amanda invited him to come in because, as she noted, this was not a stranger; this was a man she knew quite well.

Amanda asked her friend if she could get him anything, and he shockingly implied that he didn’t want a drink or a snack; he wanted her!

Amanda had a boyfriend at the time and reminded her friend of this fact, but her friend said her boyfriend didn’t have to know about anything.

“He got up from where he was sitting, ’cause he was over here, and he came to the couch, and he put his giant man hand on my leg and was like, kind of moving it back,” Amanda said.

Amanda grabbed his hand, told him he had the wrong impression, and moved his hand off her leg. That infuriated her friend, who proceeded to grab her leg once more, except this time his grip was more forceful.

Amanda’s friend then noticed her pet iguana, who was free-ranging around her house and not inside her cage. Amanda’s friend kind of freaked out, and then Amanda informed him that her iguana was very attracted to shiny objects.

“This guy had gold on. I was like, all that gold around your neck? She might be attracted to that,” Amanda added.

Amanda’s friend next wanted to know if her scaly companion could jump, and Amanda responded that yes, her iguana could easily jump 8 to 12 feet.

She went on to say her iguana could bite and was also poisonous, which made her friend wildly uncomfortable. Amanda’s friend was worried about her iguana coming near him, so he leapt up from the couch and got out of there.

Now, Amanda was telling tall tales about the jumping and poison part, but she said what she had to in order to scare this man off.

And there you have it: that’s the story of how Amanda’s iguana came to her rescue when she really needed someone to watch out for her.

Eventually, Amanda did have to rehome her when she had her son, as iguanas can carry Salmonella in their feces, and that poses a danger to kids.

“Your lizard was being a girl’s girl, always remember the buddy system, ladies!!” one person exclaimed in the comments section.

“Who needs a guard dog when you have a guard iguana?” another person asked.

“Not to mention that tail if they decide to whip you. Not pleasant at all,” a third person pointed out.
