Recently, TikToker Rachel (@nurse.rachel.md) had her worst-ever date at 29 years old. She had gone on two dates before with this guy, and they made plans for a third. However, he canceled at the last minute.

Rachel’s next availability was two Wednesdays away because she was working 10 night shifts in a row that were each 13 hours long. A couple of days before their scheduled date, she messaged him to confirm their plans.

His idea for their date was to cook. Rachel thought he meant that he was offering to cook for her, but he said he didn’t have time to cook and was hoping she could do it.

On the day of their date, she went to the grocery store to buy ingredients for shrimp tacos. He texted her to let her know that he was running late and would be at her place closer to 7:30 p.m.

She was really tired, so she lay down until he got there. He declared that he would make sure to leave at 9:30 so she could sleep.

When he came over, he asked if he could take a nap. She lived in a studio apartment, so there wasn’t much room for a nap unless it was in her bed. And that’s exactly what he did. He lay down in her bed while she started cooking.

She made two sauces from scratch and sautéed shrimp. At some point, he asked her how much longer the food would take because he had to leave at 9:15. He claimed to have a meeting at 10:00.

“I forgot to mention, while he was sleeping, he turned the lights off, so I was cooking in the dark,” said Rachel. “He comes over to the kitchen. Now, we have the lights on because he’s up, and he’s making a taco.”

“And I said, hey, if you have to go at a specific time, I’d appreciate if you just say so…instead of phrasing it like I’ll make sure to go at 9:30 so that you can sleep because that, to me, sounds more flexible.”

“While I’m explaining this, he puts his fingers in his ears, starts shaking his head, and says he can’t enjoy the food while I’m complaining.”

Rachel was rendered speechless by his behavior. She just stared at him until he stopped. Before he left, he took the rest of the shrimp, dumped them on his plate, and ate them all with his hands, without asking her if she still wanted any more tacos. Then, he put his plate in the sink and left. He didn’t even offer to help clean up.

Overall, he didn’t just have one rude moment, but a string of offenses that painted a clear picture as to what kind of person he really was. For Rachel, it was an easy decision never to speak to him again.
