Giving birth is absolutely a lot to go through. So do you think it’s fair for a man to expect his postpartum wife to shave when she’s still recovering?
This 23-year-old girl and her 26-year-old husband have been together for the last three years, and their relationship has always been picture-perfect.
Nine months ago, she unexpectedly got pregnant after doctors told her that she was unable to have children. She was over the moon after finding out that she was going to be a mom, and her family had a barbecue to celebrate.
“During the nine months, my husband was like every girl’s dream. Sure, we argued sometimes, but nothing bad, and it was always something we got over. It was like a Disney movie, if you understand, lol,” she explained.
“I was in labor for around 8 hours? It was painful, but when I saw her, when I saw my beautiful baby, I cried so much, and it felt so worth it. She was 19 inches and 7 pounds.”
“During the time I was in labor, my husband was either holding my hand or in the hall because he got sick or in the bathroom because he was tired.”
She spent two days in the hospital before she was allowed to go home. Her husband picked her up, and after they got to their house, he did his best to pamper her, but she wanted to be alone.
She was exhausted, sore, and sweaty. She’s been in so much pain throughout the last couple of days, and it hurts when she walks. Despite that, she’s still making dinner, cleaning the house, and caring for the baby while her husband has been busy fixing his mom’s shed in her backyard.
Two nights ago, she made pasta and zucchini for dinner, and when her husband saw it, he said it looked repulsive. He mentioned he wanted pizza, but she pointed out that he had not said that to her.

He accused her of being difficult to speak to since she’s always moody and tired. He said sorry, then left the room. Two hours later, he let her know he had put their daughter to bed and asked why she was mad.
“I told him that what he said really hurt my feelings, and he apologized, then said he was just frustrated, and I said I understood that, but he shouldn’t take it out on me,” she continued,
“He apologized and put his hand on my hip, and I smiled at him. He moved his hand to my leg, then said that I felt ‘spiky,’ and he noticed there’s hair in my armpits too. I told him that I’m tired and I haven’t shaved recently. I didn’t think it mattered that much.”
“He told me that by tomorrow he EXPECTS me to shave. I told him that that’s ridiculous, and he said that it’s completely rational and every man thinks women with body hair are ugly. I asked if he thought I was ugly. And he didn’t say anything. I told him that I JUST gave birth and I want to recover. He said that I can, he just expected me to be pretty when I did.”
She pulled the blanket over herself and attempted to go to sleep. Next, her husband tried to cuddle her, so she went to her daughter’s room.
She’s left wondering if she overreacted after her husband told her to shave.
I’m sorry, but he’s busy helping his mom with her shed instead of assisting with the baby, and on top of that, he has the audacity to demand that she shave? No, this guy is a jerk, and she didn’t react enough to what he said to her.
Honestly, she should boycott shaving for the next six months. That would serve him right.
What do you think?
