Missing Beauty Queen Found Dead In Dallas 2 Days Before Competing For A New Title

38-year-old Lashun Massey lived in Dallas, Texas, and she would go for a walk every morning bright and early around Lake Lago de Claire.

She always made it back to her house around 7 a.m. so that she could then get her children ready for online elementary school.

When she stepped out of her house three days ago dressed in checkered pajama pants and a black hoodie, her family never expected her to not come home.

Lashun was, by all means, a beauty queen, having won the title of Mrs. Dallas recently.

She wasn’t just a pretty face though; Lashun had written a book and held a Ph.D. in civil engineering.

Lashun also owned an environmental engineering company and worked as an engineering program manager for the University of Texas at Dallas.

Two days before Lashun was set to compete for a new title, Mrs. Texas America, she disappeared after never coming home from her usual morning walk.

On April 27th, the Irving Police Department posted on social media hoping members of the community had seen Lashun after her husband reported her as missing.

“We are attempting to locate a missing person last seen walking near Lake Lago de Claire in La Vallita this morning between 5:30 am-7 am,” the Irving Police Department said in a statement.

“Last seen wearing a black hoodie and checkered pajama pants,” they continued. “If you have seen someone matching this description please call our non-emergency number (972)273-1010.”

The Irving Police Department began investigating Lashun’s disappearance, and they connected the dots to a 911 call that had come in at 5:30 a.m. the morning she vanished.

The caller had said that a woman was walking out of the water of Lake Lago de Claire and that she had walked over to a bench, stood on top of it, then walked off.

Police quickly got a hold of the 2 witnesses that had seen this woman, and the description they gave of her sounded like Lashun.

Authorities then began searching Lake Lago de Claire, using sonar equipment from the Texas Parks & Wildlife.

Given that the lake is approximately 85 to 90 feet deep, it was an extensive effort to search the entire thing.

As the search continued for Lashun, tips came into the police with people mentioning that they had seen her that morning.

Relying on those tips, along with video footage from neighboring Ring doorbells, the police decided to backtrack and look into specific parts of the lake.

The Texas Department of Public Safety’s dive team and troopers from all over Texas then came out to the lake to help find Lashun.

At 9:45 a.m. yesterday morning, the troopers found a body in the lake.

Although Public Information Officer Reeves with the Irving Police Department mentioned that the medical examiner would need to make a positive identification, the body was found wearing the same clothing that Lashun had last been seen in.

The investigation is still ongoing and the cause of death has yet to be released. Authorities do not suspect foul play right now and they also said they do not know why Lashun would have been in the water.
