A Michigan Father Suffered Severe Burns While Rescuing His 18-Month-Old Twin Daughters From A Fire

“I only knew where my babies were and how to get to them because of my recollection.”

The father was “severely injured” in the electrical fire, according to the GoFundMe page, and “received 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his face, eyes, neck, arms, and various areas of his body in addition to smoke inhalation.”

The babies were also injured in the fire as well.

Lucas is now concerned that “because of the magnitude of his injuries,” he will be unable to return to work.

“Their house was entirely destroyed” and “THE FAMILY LOST ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THE FIRE,” according to the crowd-funding description.

Over $250,000 has been raised as of Wednesday morning, far exceeding the $40,000 goal.

The father reflected on the seriousness of his injuries, saying that he was “temporarily blind for three days” and that it was “a miracle” that he could see.

“Money is will be used to cover medical bills and other expenses. To find a new home, as well as restore and decorate a new living environment for the family Furnishings, baby cribs, and baby furniture, as well as diapers and clothing for both of the twin babies, including clothing for the baby’s mother and father,” as per the fundraiser campaign.
