She Left Home One Morning 16 Years Ago After Arguing With Her Parents And A Suspected Serial Killer Has Been Charged With Her Murder Even Though She Hasn’t Been Found

Battle Creek, Michigan. It was June 12th, 2005, when 21-year-old Ashley Marie Parlier walked away from her home in the neighborhood of Urbandale, never to be seen after that.

Ashley had gotten into an argument that morning with her parents after they brought it up to her that they thought she seemed to be pregnant.

They were concerned about her making good decisions for her potential newborn, and they wanted to make sure everything was going to be ok.

Although Ashley was, by all means, a legal adult, she did have a bit of a mental disability, and so she acted more like a very young teenager than a 21-year-old woman.

Ashley’s mom and dad tried to talk Ashley into getting seen by a doctor, but she did not want to hear it and ended up walking out the door of the home she shared with them.

Figuring that Ashley just needed a bit of time to decompress from the heated discussion, her parents didn’t chase after her as she left.

Ashley did not have a car of her own (in fact, it was something she was saving up to get by working at a local Taco Bell) so it didn’t seem she could get that far.

When Ashley never made it back home, her parents reported her as missing.

Initially, it seemed that perhaps Ashley’s former boyfriend could have been involved in her disappearance since everyone thought he was potentially the father of the baby.

Although that appeared to be a promising lead, he was cleared by authorities of having any involvement in what happened to her.

It was back to square one, and as the years flew by, Ashley’s case went cold.

Finally, after 16 years of Ashley being gone without a trace, there was a break in the case.

Authorities in Pennsylvania reached out to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office back in Michigan to say that they had a 43-year-old man by the name of Harold David Haulman III in their custody who had revealed some shocking things.

As he sat there in custody, Harold was already facing murder charges for taking the lives of 26-year-old Erica Shultz and 25-year-old Tianna Phillips.

He had already served time behind bars for an incident pertaining to a 1999 death in Rammstein, Germany.

While speaking to authorities, Harold explained that he knew where Ashley was buried, because he was responsible for murdering her too.

Harold had been a resident of Battle Creek, Ashley’s hometown, from 2002 to around halfway through 2009.

He told authorities that he had gotten into an argument with Ashley at a house located in Emmett Township.

“He indicated he had assaulted her, knocking her unconscious,” Calhoun County Sheriff Steve Hinkley said in a press conference.

“He then drove her to a remote area in New Township, where he struck her in the head several times with a piece of wood until she was dead.”

“He later discarded his bloody clothing that he wore at the time.”

Harold mentioned that Ashley’s body was somewhere in the northern part of Newton Township, just south of Battle Creek.

Extensive searches were conducted there in the woods with the hopes of finding Ashley’s remains, and Harold was also flown over there to help look, but so far she remains missing.

While performing a “forensic social media search” authorities also learned that Harold had been looking up things about serial killers and grave robbing.

Late last month, Harold was officially charged with the premeditated murder of Ashley, and he remains behind bars in Pennsylvania.

Detectives are dedicated to putting more information together in order to finally bring Ashley home, and they’re hoping that members of the public might also be able to help.

Both Ashley’s mom and dad sadly passed away last spring, which means they never got a chance to see justice served or answers brought about in Ashley’s disappearance.

Ashley’s sister Nicole has kept up a Facebook page the family created to raise awareness for Ashley, which you can follow here.
