She Uninvited A Few Family Members From Her Wedding To Make Her Maid Of Honor’s Mother More Comfortable

Her maid of honor’s mother even began skipping many events, especially weddings, to avoid running into the woman’s aunt and cousins.

“I decided that I won’t be inviting these people to my wedding. Having my maid of honor’s mom there is more important to me,” the woman said, “To be honest, neither my mom nor I have ever gotten along with my aunt and two cousins. So, of course I’d rather drop them and have my maid of honor’s mom there.”

Since the woman made that decision, though, she has come under intense scrutiny from her mother’s side of the family.

“Everyone claims it is disrespectful and unfair to uninvite my aunt and cousins. They think that if my maid of honor’s mom has an issue, then she should be the one to suck it up,” the woman said.

What would you do in this situation? Should blood family members outweigh genuine relational bonds?
