At This Dog-Only Restaurant In San Fransisco, Your Pup Can Dine On A Three-Course Meal Like Royalty

“We knew we wanted him [Grizzly] to be the happiest dog with the happiest food and the best life we could give him,” Rahmi recalled.

So, he started by feeding Grizzly the food that was recommended by his breeder. Then, Rahmi switched to following his pet store’s recommendation. It quickly became apparent that Grizzly was just not satisfied, though.

“After one week, it was obvious that he did not like his food, and it dawned on us: we wouldn’t enjoy eating the same dry, crunchy, bagged or canned food every single day either,” Rahmi said.

This realization is what ultimately spurred Dogue to come to life. And, of course, it helped that Rahmi was a professionally trained chef in classical French cuisine. Now, Rahmi believes that Dogue’s mission is simple yet impactful– feeding dogs whole food that is fresh, in season, and as close to its natural state as possible.

“Dogs are carnivores that are opportunistic. So, to honor the species, we need to feed food fit for an opportunistic carnivore. Foods based on the seasons, the quality, and what dogs would naturally hunt for in the wild,” Rahmi explained.

Even the restaurant’s name– Dogue– is rooted in canine history. The word translates to Mastiff in French– which Rahmi felt would be a perfect tribute for both his classical French culinary training and his beloved first Mastiff, Grizzly.

So, if you are as passionate about your pup as Rahmi is, you should probably visit Dogue this season. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday between 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. And, on Sundays, your dog can dine on a three-course meal like a king between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
