This NYC Apartment Went Viral For Having A Shower In The Living Room

New York, New York. New York City is already infamous for its abundance of tiny apartments with exorbitant rent.

So, it might be hard to imagine that the typical over-priced apartment could get any worse. But, the TikTok community was shocked by a ridiculous listing posted by @Claudia_NYCAgent.

Claudia is a real estate agent who shared an otherwise normal-looking apartment. It has an open floor plan, oversized windows, new kitchen appliances, and even exposed brick. But, the real kicker?

The shower is located in the living room.

“When you pay $2,200 per month and have to shower in the living room,” Claudia captioned her post.

The video quickly gained a whopping three-million views and over two hundred thousand likes. The TikTok community was appauled.

“New York can’t keep getting away with these god-awful apartment layouts. Were the architects drunk?” one user asked.

“Every single time I see a post like this, it makes me never want to live in New York City,” another commenter added.

One user even said, “Next time, they will put a toilet right next to the stove.” While many people just laughed along with the user, Claudia made a video response to their remark.

“It actually exists,” Claudia captioned her follow-up video. This time, the post showed an ordinary-looking kitchen countertop with two swinging cabinets.

But, Claudia revealed that the countertop is removable, and the cabinets swing open to reveal a toilet!

Imagine having company over– you would have to avoid going to the “bathroom” at all costs! Plus, the germs and cross-contamination within your own kitchen is revolting.

How this layout is even allowed in New York City was beyond both Claudia and the TikTok community alike.

“Looks like a fever dream,” wrote one user.

“This is why I don’t eat at the office potlucks,” joked another.

If there is one significant takeaway from both of these videos, it is to physically tour any apartment before you put down a deposit!

With mobile real estate apps, it might be tempting to secure a “good deal” before it gets snatched up.

But, you never know– by “acting fast,” you could end up with a shower in your living room and a toilet in your kitchen.
