According to TikToker @mystolenvalorstepdad, her mom fell head over heels for a much younger man who was allegedly a grifter.
Her 82-year-old mother was married to a 56-year-old man when she died. For the sake of the story, he will be referred to as McFly. About two years before she met McFly, her mother inherited a little over a million dollars.
Her mother met McFly online around the spring of 2017. Before that, she had been mostly single for @mystolenvalorstepdad’s whole life. In 2014, her grandfather passed away, and her mother inherited his fortune.
She dated McFly for some time before introducing him to the family. She never specifically said where she met him, but @mystolenvalorstepdad thinks it might have been a supported partner kind of situation.
“From the beginning, McFly claimed to be 11 years older than his actual age,” said @mystolenvalorstepdad. “After my mom found some childhood pictures of his when he moved his stuff to her house, he changed his story.”
“Multiple times, she confronted him, and he said that he was just a year older than my then-husband, so that would have put him around a decade older than he really was.”
When @mystolenvalorstepdad asked him about his age, he lied and said he was a year older than her. It turned out that he was actually three months younger than her. In fact, her own mother was seven years older than his mother.
A couple of years after her mom met him, she and her mom’s best friend told her that they were worried because this guy was not telling the truth about himself.
They had proof that he was lying, but her mom didn’t want to hear it. She didn’t fight @mystolenvalorstepdad and her friend. Instead, she just never spoke to them again.

“My mom must have willingly just wanted to believe and live this fantasy, and she did,” said @mystolenvalorstepdad. “She was all about the drama and being cruel and vindictive.”
When McFly first moved in with her mother, he stated that he had been living with his aunt and uncle, who were farmers, and they had both passed away.
He kept having to leave her mother’s house to help settle their estate. Later, it was revealed that they weren’t really his aunt and uncle. They were just an older couple he took care of while they were dying.
He also claimed that he had two adopted daughters from his first wife, who had passed away. He told @mystolenvalorstepdad this huge backstory for one of his daughters. The next time they saw each other, he told her about his other daughter, but gave the exact same backstory as the first one.
After her mother passed away, McFly inherited her childhood home, a car, some of the furniture, and her grandfather’s weapons from a war he fought in.
Her mother had promised her daughters that they would get engagement diamonds from her, but they haven’t been able to get the diamonds. McFly was a trustee of her will and was supposed to give them the diamonds, but he never did.
When @mystolenvalorstepdad’s daughters would call him and ask about the diamonds, he told them that they were with the lawyer.
But when they called the lawyer’s office, the lawyer said that the trustee was supposed to give out the diamonds. McFly claimed that she must have lost the diamonds before she died, even though she always took great care of her jewelry.
“He gave some photo albums, which I appreciate,” said @mystolenvalorstepdad. “But all her belongings, her jewelry, and just days before she died, she had put $300,000 in a joint account with him, so that’s all gone, too.”
Now, the family is still left with unanswered questions about the relationship and their family heirlooms.
