A woman met a man through a dating app, and he wasted no time letting her know that he is on the spectrum and that he has autism.

Before meeting this guy, she hadn’t ever dated a guy that had autism, but it wasn’t a turn-off for her so she kept chatting with him.

This guy was super smart and she thought that he was “high functioning.” They took things offline and began dating in real life.

“He’s had a lot of issues with dating in the past because a lot of people don’t understand why he has outbursts and it leads people to think he is crazy,” she explained.

“He had been fired from multiple jobs and got kicked out of high school because of his outbursts and belligerent behavior.”

“I’m learning all of this about him over time and I’m honestly surprised because I never saw that side to him.”

A little less than 2 months into dating this guy, she thought their relationship was wonderful. Well, 2 weeks ago, that all came crashing down.

While she was texting her now-boyfriend, he got into an argument with her regarding a musician that he likes a lot.

When she let her boyfriend know that she didn’t really love the musician that he appreciates, he lost it on her.

He said some horrible things, along with some curses, and she did her best to try to get him to dial things back down.

“I tell him that he’s going way too far and he’s pushing me away,” she said. “He then says “I don’t give a f*** leave if you want to” as soon as he says that I block him because I’m not going to tolerate being talked to like that.”

“I get a call from him an hour later asking me why I blocked him on Instagram. I explain to him that I’m not going to tolerate a man disrespecting me the way he was.”

Once again, he freaked out on her so she hung up. From there, he gaslit her and attempted to say that his autism is the reason why he has freakouts like that.

Her boyfriend was mad that she blocked him as well, and he told her that if she couldn’t be accepting of who he is they are not a great match.

Her boyfriend never said that he was sorry, and never owned up to what he did. She believes that he just uses his autism as a kind of crutch to behave badly.

“He didn’t care that he hurt my feelings and then he tried to gaslight me into thinking I did something wrong because I blocked him,” she continued.

“Today, he finally genuinely apologized through a heartfelt text, he says he feels extremely ashamed of his behavior and doesn’t want to lose me.”

She still has not yet replied to him, and she’s considering never responding, to be honest. She knows that might not be the best thing to do to someone, but she isn’t positive that she can keep being treated this way.

Do you think she owes him a reply to his apology text? Should she try to keep dating him, or should she dump him now? You can read the original post on Reddit here.
