When a conservative golden boy plays his wife for a fool, is exposing his secret double life a public service? Or is it just vindictive?
This 32-year-old woman has a husband the same age as her, and they spent seven years together. They got married a year and a half ago, and out of nowhere, her husband announced that he was getting a divorce since he was finished being with her.
She was crushed and shocked. Initially, she figured her husband was battling burnout, depression, or another mental health problem related to his high-pressure job, since his request for a divorce was so out of character.
“He recently filed for a no-fault divorce. While I accepted that our marriage was over, I later discovered evidence that he had been having an affair before asking for the divorce,” she explained.
“Here’s where it gets complicated: my husband is a well-known conservative politician. I am also conservative, and throughout our relationship we both publicly presented ourselves as believing strongly in family values, commitment, and fidelity.”
She’s not trying to get revenge on her husband for no longer wanting to be married to her; she’s just upset over how much of a hypocrite he is.
He’s still out there publicly saying he’s all into traditional family values, yet behind closed doors, he’s acting in a completely opposite way.
“I have evidence of the affair. Some friends have told me I should take it to the media because voters deserve to know if a public figure is presenting a false image,” she added.
“Others say that, regardless of what he did, exposing his private life would be vindictive and unnecessarily destructive, especially since we’re already divorcing.”

She’s truly torn. On one hand, she believes people need to know the truth about a politician requesting their trust. Her husband is out there telling lies to the world about him being a man who deeply believes in things he’s just not.
On the other hand, she would be a liar as well to claim revenge isn’t playing a bit of a role in her motivation. She’s furious and heartbroken, so of course that is influencing her in some way. How could it not?
“Another part of me wonders whether exposing him would make me no better than him, or whether I’d simply be acting out of pain rather than doing the right thing,” she continued.
“So, [am I the jerk] for even considering giving this information to journalists?”
Her husband is totally relying on their shared conservative background to keep her quiet, and she should expose him for being hypocritical, as people do deserve to know that.
She should show him no mercy, because cheaters never deserve that anyway.
