This TikToker Sparked Outrage After Sharing He Spends $2,000 Each Month On Bottled Water

The TikToker Ryan Dubs is no stranger to luxury. The self-proclaimed “brand king” often flaunts his lavish lifestyle on the platform to his five hundred thousand followers.
One of Ryan’s most recent TikTok videos skyrocketed its way to virality for the wrong reasons, though.
After sharing that he spends two thousand dollars per month on bottled water, the internet community bashed Ryan’s disregard for environmental concern and economic disparity.
“I spend over two thousand dollars per month on high-end water bottles delivered directly to my house, and as a water snob, it is such a luxury,” he said on his TikTok account @RyanDubs.
“I know what you are thinking– where do I keep it all? I have four fridges, so I’ve got that part covered,” Ryan continued while showing his grand kitchen.
The brand of water that he purchases is VOSS. Ryan also dubbed the company his favorite water brand.
“I have always been a water snob, and I know that a lot of people are probably thinking, what the hell, why do you care?” Ryan explained.
“But, I just hate the taste of tap water. I cannot drink it. I can only drink bottled water– it’s the only way I will get it in me.”

He also attempted to address environmental concerns up-front by claiming that VOSS is carbon-neutral and more eco-friendly than plastic bottle brands.
Still, his 1.8 million viewers were not pleased with this answer– especially since Ryan purchases such large quantities on a regular basis.
“Bottled water is not net carbon neutral. Transportation causes pollution. Get a water filter!” commented one user.
“How out of touch can one person be? I am at a loss for words. One in three people do not have access to clean drinking water, and this guy is flexing two thousand dollars a month on water,” added another.
While VOSS’s website does claim to “maintain a strong commitment to sustainability focusing on package optimization, carbon footprint reduction, and water stewardship,” the TikTok community might not be wrong in their outrage.
Ryan is from the United States, and VOSS is a Norway-based water company. Thus, his carbon footprint from shipping alone is undoubtedly adding up.
According to UK Research and Innovation, a public research agency, “The shipping industry is responsible for about 940 million tons of carbon dioxide annually, which is at least 2.5% of the world’s total carbon dioxide emissions.”
Still, some TikTok users believe that how Ryan chooses to spend money is his own business.
“It’s his money. Let him do what he wants. I don’t understand why TikTok gets pressed about everything,” commented one user.
“The comments are not passing the vibe check. Who cares? It’s his money, and he can use it on whatever he wants! If it makes him happy, so what?” added another user.
What do you think about Ryan’s water consumption? At what point does someone cross the line between financial freedom and environmental recklessness?
