She Got A Weight Loss Clinic Shut Down After They Used Photos Of Her In Their Advertising Without Her Permission

After losing her job and her income, a 47-year-old woman began attending a health clinic managed by the city where she lives, as it’s quite affordable.

When she began going to the clinic, she knew she needed to lose weight; all in most likely 250 pounds.

She made some major changes in her life and was able to lose a shocking 75 pounds in just 4 months of hard work.

After celebrating this major milestone, and discussing her progress with the health clinic, she was referred to a local weight loss clinic, as the health clinic thought it would be best for her to begin seeing a nutritionist to help her with her goals.

Luckily, this specific weight loss clinic she was referred to also works with her city in an effort to make their services more affordable.

So, she filled out the forms she needed to get seen by the weight loss clinic, and she fully expected to show up at her appointment to meet with a nutritionist.

Well, when she got there, she was shocked when a doctor walked in, introduced himself, and insisted that she couldn’t undergo gastric sleeve surgery to help her lose the weight she wanted to.

She was quite taken aback, as she was not interested in getting surgery; just discussing her eating habits.

When she confronted the doctor about wanting help with her eating habits instead of getting surgery, he rudely said to her, “Your diet obviously isn’t working or you wouldn’t be the size you are.”

“I had printed the records from my FitBit which show all the hours I have spent working out, what I eat, how much weight I have lost,” she explained.

“He said it was fake and told me I had less than a 5% chance of succeeding and that the sooner I accepted I needed surgery the better off I would be.”

“He gave me a lecture without ever looking up from his phone. He called me a food addict and asked me what other drugs I take. NONE!”

The doctor blew off what she attempted to say to him, and before he left the room, he provided her with an eating plan packed with everything she cannot even eat.

“With all the excuses you are giving me you are going to continue to gain weight and will be dead in a year,” the doctor stated before exiting the room.

She walked out in tears, which is heartbreaking. Here she was trying to get help and she got treated terribly.

A month after this awful incident, she noticed that this same weight loss clinic had used photos of her without her permission in an advertisement that was plastered across a bench at a local bus stop.

The weight loss clinic had gone to her Facebook profile and took photos of her from her social media to use.

They then photoshopped her “before” photo to make her appear even bigger, before taking her “after” photo and doctoring it to make her appear even skinnier.

Now, she had completed some forms before being seen by the weight loss clinic, and on the forms they had her agree or disagree to allowing her photos to be used for their advertising purposes.

She had declined to give them that permission when she did the paperwork, so they clearly violated her wishes.

She wasted no time calling a friend of hers who works as a lawyer, and her friend wrote a letter to the weight loss clinic saying they would pursue things further if the clinic didn’t take down the advertising with her photos.

“A week later it was announced that the weight loss clinic was discontinuing its reduced cost program,” she said.

“I got a letter from the low-cost clinic telling me that they would no longer be providing me with health care because of my “…vindictive actions against Dr. Dumb”. It went on to say how I have “…deprived the deserving poor of access to life-saving medical treatment…” and that my actions were “…selfish and shameful…”

She’s left wondering if what she did was wrong, but honestly, I don’t see an issue with anything that she did.

Do you agree?

By the way, she’s down 112 pounds right now and she has worked hard for the last 6 months to get there all by herself.
