“The last one is a smaller vertical scar on the left side of her throat. All three of these scars were all very deep looking, and all had a purple hue to them.”
The scars were so severe it left him standing there, gawking awkwardly, which then made her so uncomfortable that she started crying.
Instead of discussing the situation further, he comforted her, and eventually, they both returned to their evening.
He is now left wondering what happened to this girl but is currently too afraid to ask any questions.
While he is no expert by any means, he genuinely believes that these scars are not surgical and that something horrifying must have happened to her.
Now he struggles with the idea of pretending they are not there and letting the situation be as is or gently bringing up the conversation in hopes it won’t trigger her into remembering a traumatic experience.
Curiosity killed the cat. Should he ask?
