A woman has a stepdaughter that just graduated from college, and the college her stepdaughter goes to is a plane ride away from where she lives.

She, her husband, and the kids that they have with one another hopped on a flight to be able to see her stepdaughter’s graduation ceremony.

They also all planned to take her stepdaughter out to dinner afterward, bring her presents, and get to just hang out with her, as she won’t be home much this summer.

“We had to fly in to see her, so I was wearing a comfy matching workout set (in her school colors to celebrate) on the flight and had a dress and heels in my carry-on to change into before the ceremony,” she explained.

Well, the flight that they were all on got terribly delayed, and everything went from smooth sailing to pretty crazy.

Their flight was so very late that they nearly didn’t make it to see her stepdaughter walk across the stage.

On their way to the ceremony, her kids insisted on stopping to get her stepdaughter flowers, and then one of her kids got quite ill because of how chaotic everything was.

Then, they all got stuck in traffic, and she just forgot to change out of her workout clothes and into her dress and heels.

She figures that everything was so taxing that changing into something nicer was simply the last thing on her mind.

As soon as her stepdaughter saw her, she was visibly angry towards her, yet happy towards her dad and siblings.

She pulled her stepdaughter aside to question her about what was going on, and her stepdaughter told her that she was so upset regarding her workout clothes.

Her stepdaughter thought it was ill-mannered of her to not be dressed up, since her stepdaughter expected her to get all fancy so they could take celebratory family photos at her graduation ceremony.

As she looked around, she could see the other family members in attendance all had on quite casual clothing, and the ceremony was held outside in a football stadium.

Her stepdaughter kept scolding her for her outfit choice as she wondered if her outfit really was so far off base.

“She said if she were my real kid I would have never done what I had done,” she said.

“She also told her dad that I was banned from future events of hers because she knows “I will be a terrible person” and wear sweatpants to her wedding.”

She said sorry multiple times to her stepdaughter, before mentioning how elated she was about her graduation.

She then tried to fix things by suggesting to her stepdaughter that they could all get really fancy before going out to dinner and take pictures together while they were out, but her stepdaughter just got even angrier.

Her husband also tried to apologize on her behalf, though that also didn’t help. Right now, her stepdaughter isn’t speaking to her or her husband either.

Do you think her outfit choice was offensive, or do you think her stepdaughter overreacted?
