“My mother is a stay at home mom and an amazing chef who raised 4 loving children. I am proud of my family and i love them very much. However, my girlfriend does not feel this way.”
His girlfriend told him that she feels humiliated to have to tell her own family this his mom and dad didn’t higher education degrees.
She also feels upset that his mom and dad don’t work in “fancy white collar” kind of careers.
Additionally, he does have siblings, but none of them chose to go to college, and 2 of them have careers that his girlfriend feels are questionable.
Although his family isn’t rich or famous, they love one another, and that’s so very important to him.
His girlfriend’s family will never look at his family and see what he does, and they will always look down on his family for not having big jobs and piles of money.
“They value career and education more than anything, which leads to harsh judgements on my family that i don’t think they deserve,” he continued.
“I’m not sure what to do here. In my heart, I believe my girlfriend should be proud of who I am and embrace my family, not be embarrassed about them and scared to tell her parents where we come from.”
“Is our relationship doomed? How can i forgive a girl that basically looks down on my family for having a different lifestyle?”
