And sadly, the kidnapping of Melissa Highsmith remains the oldest unsolved case in Texas today after fifty-one years of no answers.
Jeff Highsmith, Melissa’s brother, has created a Facebook group entitled Help Find Melissa Highsmith, where he has never stopped trying to raise awareness about the case.
“I will never give up hope,” he said.
In the meantime, authorities have released an age progression photograph of what Melissa may look like today at fifty-two years old. And just last week, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) shared breaking news.

The Center received an anonymous tip regarding a possible sighting of Melissa in the Charleston, South Carolina, region based on the age progression photo. More specifically, the tipster believes Melissa was in Daniel Island. Authorities are currently working to verify the sighting. But anyone with further information is urged to contact the NCMEC immediately at 1-800-843-5678.
