For the first ten years of this twenty-four-year-old woman’s life, she and her younger sister had a great relationship.

Her sister is only one year younger than her, so throughout elementary school, they were super close.

“She was a friend and not just my sister, and I would have done anything to protect and defend her,” she recalled.

Then, at some point, something began to change. They both got busier, but around that time, her parents also started to seriously crack down on her.

She was constantly told she was leaving her sister out and that she needed to learn how to be nice. Plus, her parents were always accusing her of saying and doing things she had not done– which totally confused her.

But, after she got home from a friend’s house one night and walked downstairs, she started to realize what had been going on.

“I heard my sister saying I had told her we could play together, but I had ditched her for my friend instead and never even told her,” she explained.

“Then, the next morning, my dad told me he remembered me promising my sister to play and how I never followed through.”

And even though she tried to explain what truly happened to her father, he never heard her out and just shut her down.

Then, following that incident, the bizarre accusations continued for months.

She was called a bully by her sister and parents and accused of pushing her sister away and breaking promises.

But, none of it was ever true. She was just busy with school and began participating in extracurricular activities. And she still did spend time with her sister– it just was not as much time as before.

Plus, if you were wondering if she ever confronted her sister about the lies, she did. Her sister said she would not stop getting her in trouble, though, because she should not get to ditch her for her friends. Yikes!

After that confrontation, she understandably began viewing her relationship with her sister in a very bitter light, and they continued to argue anywhere and everywhere.

However, even though everything continued to build up, one specific instance in high school totally pushed her over the edge.

Apparently, when she was seventeen, and her sister was sixteen, her sister went to the principal’s office and claimed she had cheated on a test. Moreover, her sister claimed she even admitted it while at home.

And, of course, her parents were called, and an entire investigation was launched by the school.

Thankfully, though, she was eventually cleared by the administration and not punished for cheating.

Nonetheless, even the mere allegation really impacted her life– because she was forced to miss out on a great school opportunity while being investigated, and her parents still believed her sister even afterward.

So, after that, she simply could never come to forgive her sister. And her sister apparently never gave up her vendetta, either.

Even after they eventually moved out of their childhood home and went their separate ways, her sister continued telling family members how much of a bully she had been.

So now, at twenty-four, she essentially has a true hatred for her sister. And this has presented her with a significant problem now that she is engaged. During the wedding planning, she asked two of her closest friends to be her bridesmaids. But, instead of the decision being a happy one, her sister found out and totally dampened her parade.

“My sister told me I should have asked her and that she wanted to do it. But, I told her there was nothing in the world that would make me ask her, and I would sooner have no bridesmaids than have her as one,” she explained.

It might have been a harsh response, but also completely understandable. Her sister and parents, though, did not agree at all. Instead, her sister called her a total jerk, and her parents even tried convincing her to make her sister a bridesmaid.

But, she said that her parents are not even getting an invite to the wedding because they condoned her sister’s behavior over the years and never put a stop to it. Plus, she still stands behind her decision that her sister will never be a bridesmaid.

Nonetheless, she is not sure if how she went about telling her sister about the decision was justified or if the biting remark totally crossed a line.

Do you think her response to her sister was too harsh or not harsh enough? How would you have handled that situation?
