Jack informed her that he had attempted to reach out to Dean to say sorry for what he did, but Dean has him blocked across the board.
Jack then insisted that he knew his behavior back then was terrible, and he swore he was no longer that same person.
When her friends found out that she dumped Jack for what he did to Dean 5 years ago, they were angry with her. Her friends believe that Jack has changed and turned into a good person and that she needs to accept that.
“I definitely see this side of things (I by no means am a saint either), but I feel like there may be a point where even if someone has grown, that still doesn’t mean their soil isn’t spoiled,” she continued.
“A house built on a bad foundation isn’t going to be steady. Furthermore, my little brother is gay. Jack has been nothing but kind to him, but I can’t help myself from imagining Jack treating my little brother like the way he did Dean.”
“I love Jack, but I feel like I love the Jack he is now and despise the Jack he was. I’m not sure I can ever look at him and see something other than a bully. It feels like all the incredible kindness, thoughtfulness, and selflessness I’ve seen from him over the past year and a half has been an act. I know it’s not my place to “forgive” Jack for his actions, but I now have so much resentment towards him.”
She’s left wondering if she was right to dump Jack for who he was years ago, even if he swears he’s no longer that person. What do you think?
