“This was such a perfect opportunity to teach young Millie a thing or two,” agreed a fourth.
Still, a bunch of other viewers came to Millie’s rescue and tried to reason that the little girl was set up for failure. More specifically, countless commenters believe that Millie’s young age, coupled with the drawn-out surprise and lack of sleep from Christmas, was not a good recipe for a happy reaction.
“‘Let’s give this very young kid a suitcase full of shirts and a piece of paper she can’t even read.’ Even the older kid had a hard time getting it, c’mon,” commented one user.
“She’s literally a toddler. Why is everyone so upset at her reaction,” wrote a second user.
“[To] the people commenting on this video about a child: she’s little. Kids are so overstimulated on Christmas, and [there are] one hundred other reasons to grant these parents some grace. I hope the haters have perfectly behaved children one hundred percent of the time because I sure don’t,” said a third.
Angela has yet to respond to any of these comments, and it remains to be seen if she will. But, in the meantime, the TikTok poses a great question to consider for future Christmas celebrations: should surprises be personalized for a child’s age and understanding?
