Her Half-Sister Took Some Of Her Grandma’s Personal Things Without Asking And Got Kicked Out Of Her Grandpa’s House, So Her Dad Is Now Blaming Her Because He Thinks She Should Have Lied To Cover Up What Her Half-Sister Did

A 23-year-old girl’s dad wound up cheating on her mom when her mom was pregnant with her, and this other woman gave birth to her half-sister, Abby.
Abby is a year younger than she is, and as soon as her parents broke up, her dad began dating this other woman named Jen, whom he had cheated on her mom with.
She never hated Jen or Abby since her parents put her in therapy when she was 4, and this helped her a ton.
Also, she never spent a ton of time with Jen or Abby when she was a child, and she only was around them on occasion.
“My grandparents (dad’s parents) didn’t take the affair well,” she explained. “Their relationship with my dad never fully healed. Jen was/is not allowed in my grandparents’ house, Abby was for family events, but after Jen found out my grandparents were not giving Abby a trust fund, Abby stopped coming when she was 7.”
Following that incident, she and her dad were the only people in their family who remained in contact with Abby.
Several years ago, her grandma sadly passed away, and although Jen never came to her grandma’s funeral, Abby showed up.
Then, Abby began attending other events in their family that her dad went to as well. Not too long ago, her dad went to spend time with her grandpa at his house in Italy, and Abby came too.
“In that house are all my grandmother’s personal effects, including her dressing room, which has remained largely untouched since her death,” she said.

“My grandfather allows me and my aunts to borrow things from her closet, but he’s very particular about the state of the room being preserved.”
“For example, we aren’t allowed to sit at her vanity, which still has all of her old perfume bottles and photographs on it. We always ask before we go in, and we let him know what we’re taking before we leave.”
Several days before her dad and Abby were going to head home, she was upstairs in her grandpa’s house, and she spotted her grandma’s dressing room door ajar.
She entered her grandma’s dressing room, only to find that Abby was rifling through her grandma’s things.
“When she saw me, she froze, and I noticed she was wearing one of my grandmother’s watches,” she continued.
“Abby has been told not to go in the room, and to my knowledge, up until that point, she never had. I asked what she was doing, and she stuttered that she was ‘just looking,’ which obviously she wasn’t since she was also wearing. We were standing there in silence, both unsure of what to do when my grandfather walked in and went ballistic.”
Her grandpa realized that Abby had moved some of her grandma’s things and that Abby was also wearing her grandma’s watch, which infuriated him further.
Her grandpa made Abby pack her stuff and he kicked her out, but not before saying she was never invited back to his house ever again.
Her dad had been at lunch, so he came home to find them all screaming, which her dad added to, but then her dad and Abby left to stay at a hotel.
The following day, her dad and Abby flew home.
“My dad is now angry with me, saying I hung Abby out to dry and that I should have lied and said I brought her in there with me so that she wouldn’t get in trouble and that my grandfather wouldn’t have kicked me out,” she added.
“I didn’t know that he was going to kick her out, and obviously, I didn’t want that, but I also don’t think it was up to me to lie about doing something I didn’t. My dad and I usually talk most days, but he’s replying to me sporadically now, so I’m starting to think maybe I’m in the wrong.”
Do you think she was wrong, or do you think it was wrong of her dad to expect her to lie to cover for Abby?
