A mom of two kids shared a video on TikTok documenting the state of her home after she stopped cleaning for several days. The video went viral, receiving 17.7 million views and counting.

Lindsay (@lindsaydonnelly2) decided to prove a point to her husband after he told her that she did not make any contributions to the household.

“My husband made a comment that I did nothing around the house. So for two days, I really did nothing around the house,” she wrote in the text overlay of the video.

In the clip, every room of the house was in disarray. There were toys and papers littered all over the kitchen floor, cluttered countertops, and dirty dishes in the sink and on the dining table. Plus, the living room sofa was covered with piles of laundry.

Then, Lindsay showed off their bathroom, which wasn’t in much better condition. There were bath toys in the tub, more mounds of clothing, and hair products scattered across the sink vanity.

In the caption of the video, she wrote, “Then I left town for a girls trip…” accompanied by the hashtag #marriagehumor.

Most of the comments expressed criticism toward Lindsay’s husband and praised Lindsay for sharing about a situation that is an unfortunate reality for too many wives and mothers.

Lindsay made a follow-up post with her husband to explain to TikTok viewers that he has apologized since then.

She also revealed to her husband that her original video went viral and didn’t want his feelings to be hurt if he ever saw it since many negative comments were directed at him. Lindsay concluded the follow-up post by stating that he was actually a “really good husband.”

Another creator named Laura Danger (@thatdarnchat) stitched both of Lindsay’s videos.

Laura recognizes that while no one truly knows what the couple’s marriage is like except for the couple themselves, she points out that their relationship does not seem ideal.

What it looked like was one partner invalidating the other partner’s efforts. And that partner chose to take a stand and pull back their labor.

“The work she was doing was going unnoticed, unappreciated, undervalued–something we can probably assume, consistent frustration pushed her to actually make a physical example of this,” said Laura.

Laura also mentions how Lindsay felt obligated to defend her husband even after the lengths she went through just to make her case to him.

Laura says a good partner listens to their significant other and doesn’t dismiss their needs.

Lindsay made yet another follow-up video in defense of her husband, where she listed specific things her husband does for her.

“Me when that TT video went viral where I roasted my almost perfect husband, but he cooks all my vegetarian meals the way I like them, cleans daily more than I do, pays all the bills, takes me on fancy vacations, and lets me be me,” she wrote in the text overlay.

Several TikTok users weighed in on the recent follow-up post in the comments section, with some expressing their confusion over her claim that her husband cleans more than she does.

“If he cleans more than you, I’m curious how the house got so messy in those 3 days,” commented one user.

“He cleans every day, yet didn’t clean a single thing those 3 days…got it,” said another.

“That’s not perfection. That’s the bare minimum someone should do in a relationship,’ commented a third.
