She Had An Affair With A Man While Knowing That He Was Married, And She Isn’t Sure If She Entirely Regrets It
This woman sadly suffered from PTSD after being harassed and assaulted. But in 2021, she was finished with letting the trauma dictate her life. She was also tired of waiting around for specialized therapy.
“So I decided to take matters into my own hands and slowly ease myself into the topic of [physical closeness] through a dating app,” she recalled.
She wound up meeting a man named Mark online, and from the start, they reportedly had awesome chemistry. He seemed to be empathetic, sweet, and hilarious, and he also opened up to her about his struggles with anxiety and depression.
That’s why, after about a week of talking, she flirted back with Mark once he initiated. She also talked about her goal of having positive experiences with physical closeness, and Mark was apparently on board with that.
But then, out of nowhere, Mark claimed that she should not text him late at night because that would cause his wife to become suspicious. And obviously, she was completely taken aback by that.
She asked Mark why he never thought to tell her that he was married. However, his only excuse was that “she never asked.”
She also told Mark that she would have never flirted with him if she knew he was married. But, he just went on and on about how his marriage was rocky and neither he nor his wife was happy.
Plus, Mark claimed that he still wanted to help her with her goal. At first, she refused to take him up on that offer. But Mark would not back down and admitted that he had cheated on his wife numerous times before.
He also pointed out how, if she no longer wanted to meet up with him, then he would just find someone else to cheat with.

“At that point, I should have still said ‘no’ and blocked him. But I was selfish and ignorant,” she revealed.
“I thought, ‘He’s going to cheat anyway, and I am not the first or the last girl. So, what’s the harm in doing it? Mark is a serial cheater anyway, so one more person won’t make a big difference!'”
In other words, she essentially convinced herself that being with Mark was not a big deal– despite the fact that she knew he had both a wife and a baby.
And since he was married, she actually viewed that as a safety net, which gave her reassurance that he would not assault her.
She knew in her mind that Mark did commit a crime, then his wife would find out after she pressed charges. So, since Mark would stand to lose everything, she knew he would not try anything on her.
In hindsight, she knows that was very immature, stupid, and selfish of her. Nonetheless, she still went through with the plan and actually felt very comfortable and safe around Mark.
Apparently, being with him was the first time she enjoyed something like that. And on an emotional level, Mark made a large difference in her life. She was no longer afraid of physical closeness, and she even gained a ton of optimism and confidence in her personal life.
Two years have passed since then, though, and she still feels extremely ashamed about her disregard for Mark’s wife and child.
“I tried to find out the wife’s identity multiple times to tell her about Mark’s infidelity and apologize to her for enabling it, but I don’t know her name, what she looks like, or the city they live in,” she explained.
And while she does feel horrible about having an affair with Mark, she also still feels grateful that the experience made a significant difference in her life.
Nonetheless, she realizes that she was a part of the problem.
“And I know I have no right to say this, but I really hope that unhappy marriage found an end and Mark’s wife and son found happiness,” she said.
