He decided that this behavior bothered him enough to confront his girlfriend about it. Really, he just wanted to understand where this behavior was coming from and why she felt the need to do it. Also, he hoped that this didn’t mean that she was lying to him as well!
“She said it wasn’t a big deal, that she just wanted to feel included in my previous life. And that even though my ex and I adopted my dog together, it’s her dog now, and telling strangers this makes her feel better,” he said.
After hearing her explanation, he tried to be kind and understanding toward her but asked her to stop the bothersome behavior.
She agreed to stop but continued to tell him he was overreacting and had been visibly upset ever since the conversation.
