She Wants A Gold Wedding Dress And For Her Guests To Wear White, But Her Sister Thinks This Is Insane

When you’re planning your wedding, you’d like to think that you can do whatever you want because it’s your special day, right?
Unfortunately, that’s not the case for many people, and there are couples out there who have to deal with many opinionated friends and family members who try and take control of the occasion.
One woman is planning her dream wedding but is getting a lot of grief from her sister for her wardrobe choices.
She’s 24 and getting ready to marry her 26-year-old husband in December.
She is super excited to get married in a fabulous wedding and openly admits that she and her future husband love being the center of attention, so they want to go all out.
She and her fiancé want to break tradition and wear something more elaborate than a tuxedo and white wedding gown on their special day.
“We decided that instead of having me in a white dress like all the other white dresses and him in the same tuxedo as every man in attendance, it would look really spectacular if we both dressed head to toe in gold,” she explained.
“What we want is for all our guests to wear either black, white, or grey and for us to be the only ones wearing color.”
She loves the idea of being surrounded by a sea of guests in monochrome colors while she and her husband look magical in gold.

Unfortunately, when she shared this idea with her 26-year-old sister, she was met with a lot of negativity.
She has a complicated relationship with her sister. She has Narcissistic personality disorder and has admitted to not always treating her sister kindly. However, she’s been in therapy and has made some progress over the years.
Her sister was furious upon hearing what everyone else would have to wear at her wedding. Her sister accused her of being controlling for making her wedding guests wear a certain color and said the idea was “insane.”
Then, her sister started making jabs at her appearance, talking about how she and her husband getting their hair done for their wedding was just a way to show off. Her sister also blew her idea to have her guests wear white out of proportion.
“She accused me of trying to upstage everyone else’s wedding dress, basically implying that I was trying to get everyone to show up in wedding dresses so I could compete with them and make myself look even better by comparison,” she said.
“This was not ever the plan.”
When she told her husband about what her sister said, he admitted to liking the idea of having everyone show up in what they’d wear at a traditional wedding, like white wedding gowns and black suits, while the two of them were in gold. However, they ultimately decided against that idea and devised a new plan.
She decided her family could dress in copper at her wedding to stand out and look special without upstaging her as a bride.
She even offered to pay for her family’s copper wedding wardrobe on her own. Unfortunately, that still wasn’t good enough for her sister.
Her sister told her she was acting like a spoiled child and was angry that she wouldn’t allow her guests to wear “normal wedding clothes.”
Finally, her sister said no one at her wedding would feel comfortable wearing white.
Now, she’s wondering if she did anything wrong or if her sister is making a big deal out of nothing.
Is she asking for too much from her wedding guests, or should her sister leave her be?
