She simply told the woman that she did not feel comfortable giving a stranger a ride in her car. After a few moments of intensely staring, the woman was quiet and walked toward and then past her.
Scared but still concerned about this woman, she tried to ask her if she could call anyone for her or help in another way. However, the woman continued to walk away.
“She walked to the other end of the rest stop and maintained eye contact with me as she sat down on a log, then just stared at nothing,” she added.
After this alarming interaction, she got in her car and drove away. On her way home, she called the authorities and told them about the situation, and they said that they would send someone out to help the woman.
She felt worried for her safety at the time and acted accordingly, but still had a sting of guilt for leaving the woman alone in a remote area.
Do you think she did the right thing by refusing her a ride, or do you think she should have been more helpful to the woman?
