First, fill the bucket a third of the way with finished compost. It’s important to use finished compost so the nutrients can absorb more quickly into the water.
Next, add distilled water or rainwater to the top of the bucket, leaving about an inch of space. Tap water is not recommended because it may contain chlorine or other additives that will negatively impact plant health and the number of nutrients they receive.
Then, stir the solution vigorously. After the initial stirring, continue mixing it a couple of times each day over the course of a week.
Finally, strain the compost mixture, and apply the liquid to your vegetable garden, hanging baskets, or flower beds! Store the tea in a sealed container and keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent evaporation from occurring.
