If you’re someone who comes from a blended family, you know it has its difficult moments.

One man recently had to make his stepdaughter move out of his house after she bullied and spread rumors about his daughter.

He’s 40 years old and has a 12-year-old daughter named Nina. A few years ago, he married his wife, Anna, who has a daughter of her own, a 16-year-old named Kelly. Together, they have a six-year-old daughter.

He met Anna when Kelly was only five, so they’ve known each other for quite some time. Anna and Kelly quickly moved into his home, which has been in his family for generations.

It’s a great house, as every daughter gets her own bedroom and bathroom. Nina lives with him full-time since her mom passed away, and Kelly would stay with her dad every other week.

Things were fine until a few months ago when Nina would come home from school crying because she was being bullied.

“Me and Anna spent ages trying to get the school to do something and find out where the bullying comes from,” he explained.

“It all came to a conclusion a week ago, when we found out that it was Kelly who was spreading the rumors about Nina. I was furious and confronted her about it, as some rumors were based on Nina not having a mom.”

When he confronted Kelly, she became very defensive. She accused him of favoring Nina and said she was frustrated that Nina had a bigger bedroom than her in the house.

To try and make things easier, he told Kelly she could switch bedrooms with him and Anna, but she said no since she didn’t want to give up her ensuite bathroom.

Then, he had to put his foot down and told her he wouldn’t make Nina move out of her bedroom, and she had to apologize for what she had done at school.

“Kelly threw a fit and claimed Nina is a threat to her and her reputation, but I stayed firm, as I don’t see how a 12-year-old can be a threat to a high-schooler,” he said.

“As Kelly started saying more vile things about Nina and our six-year-old, I told her she had 48 hours to pick up her belongings and I [would] be dropping her off at her dad’s, where she will have to share a room and the bathroom with her other half-siblings.”

At first, Anna was extremely frustrated with him for making Kelly go to her dad’s house. But once she learned the severity of the rumors she was spreading about Nina, which had to do with her late mom and her eating disorder, she knew he did the right thing and said she’d look into putting the girls in therapy.

While he only expects Kelly to be with her dad temporarily, he wonders if he made the right decision.

Was he being too intense by kicking Kelly out of his house, or was it the best option for all involved?
